Mark Shuttleworth spoke with John Salter and Rosa LaDelfa, both co-chairs for this year’s Heroes Ball with Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s Club.
-They explained the background of Cancer Support Community
-It’s been around since 1959 providing support to adults, teens and children with all types of cancer
along with their families and caregivers at no cost support to them.
-They offer general and cancer-type specific support groups led by a licensed facilitator, healthy lifestyle
programs (ie., yoga, cooking, guitar and art classes, workshops, and more), and educational and social
activities where people can benefit from interaction and engagement with others who understand and
share their cancer journey.
-John and Ros talked about the upcoming Heroes Ball Fundraising event in June.
-The theme is “Eclipsing Cancer” , they hope to eventually eclipse cancer!
-They said at the event they will celebrate community heroes for their selfless acts of compassion and generosity and recognize
individuals for the impact they have in helping those touched by cancer to shine!
-100% of the money raised stays local helping families impacted by cancer through our free social and emotional support programs.
-They talked about how community members can get involved, buy tickets and support the programs that Cancer Support Community offers at no cost to the community.
