Ed Smith spoke with Holly Dutcher, the Executive Director of CURE Childhood Cancer.
-She spoke about their mission which is to improve the lives of  families that have children with a cancer diagnosis and to support families that have lost children to cancer.
-Holly talked about how they provide education, social, emotional and financial support to them.
-These services are provided at no cost and so the generous support of the community and their fundraising events are important and is what makes it possible.
-September is Childhood Cancer and Sickle Cell Awareness month, Holly says they are doing a variety of outreach initiatives and events this month to raise awareness and support for the organization.

-Holly says they operate mostly by volunteers and just a few staff members. They identified a need for a Bereavement Family Advocate and now have someone on staff fulfilling that role.
-She talked about how many families stay connected and involved with the organization even after their child is healthier.
-She said they will be hosting their annual holiday celebration for families in December. She encouraged people to help them fulfill families wish lists or to volunteer to help with the event.
