Today is Election Day, and if you took part, you’re probably wearing an “I Voted” sticker. Election Day-related memorabilia has been around for decades. One of the earliest in the collection of the National Museum of American History is a button from 1920 marking the beginning of women’s suffrage. The popularity of the “I Voted” stickers grew in the 1980s, with the Phoenix Realtors Association claiming they were the first to distribute them in 1985. Learn more in the full audio below.
