Fairport Rotary Club – 3/2/25

Ed Smith spoke with Ron Roberts from the Fairport Rotary Club, Nancy Ragues, Director of the Fairport Perinton Partnership and Fairport Rotary Club and Chris Pederon from Canandaigua National Bank.
-Ron gave a explanation of the Fairport Rotary Club’s annual Savor the Flavor of Fairport event
-He talked about what people who attend can expect, the various restaurants, wineries, breweries, and distilleries participating
-He encouraged people to get a ticket and attend the event
-All of the money raised goes into a charitable giving fund.
-Chris explained the giving philosophy at the bank and he expressed how he has been very impressed with the Savor the Flavor event and all the work the rotary club does locally.
-Ron explained that all of the money goes to various charitable projects and charitable organizations that ask the Rotary Club for support. They don’t spend any of the money on administrative or other expenses.
-Ron said there is an application process for local nonprofits to apply for financial assistance from the Fairport Rotary Club. He also said many times folks from different nonprofits and organizations will do a presentation at their weekly rotary meetings so the rotary members can learn more about the organization looking for help.
-Ron and Nancy talked about their current membership and how they have seen an increase in younger people joining the organization.
-They encouraged people to learn more about rotary and come to the Savor the Flavor event for an opportunity to ask questions about Fairport Rotary Club.
-Nancy said the Fairport Perinton Partnership is organizing another event called Ceili on the Canal.
-Ceili on the Canal will celebrate Irish history,  heritage and culture.
-She gave details about the event and they are working with the VFW in Fairport to host the event.
