We’re halfway through our theme week on the Haunted History of 5 American Landmarks. Today we’re talking about the Hollywood sign. It’s apparently haunted by the ghost of Peg Entwhistle, an up-and-coming Broadway actress in the 1920s. She moved to Hollywood in 1932, but after just one film role her prospects dried up and she was out of a job. She sadly took her life on September 16, 1932, jumping from the H on the Hollywood sign. Over the years, joggers, hikers, and park rangers have all seen Peg’s ghost. She’s always dressed in 1930’s clothing and appears on the path or floating on the hill, and she’s often accompanied by her favorite scent, Gardenia perfume. Learn all about the history of the iconic Hollywood sign, including the celebrities who chipped in to save it, in the audio below.
